The actress was 60 years old
Iconic Stars Wars actress Carrie Fisher has died at the age of 60 following a heart attack late last week. The actress went into cardiac arrest during a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday (Dec 23rd) when paramedics rushed to her aid. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads a statement to People on Tuesday (Dec 27th).
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” says Lourd, 24. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
2016 has been a horrible year for celebs.The news comes two days after pop star George Michael was found dead on Christmas morning and two weeks after actor Alan Thicke died of a heart issue. David Bowie, Glen Frey and Prince all died earlier in the year.
