The album mixes Polynesian, American and Hawaiian influences
For Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Stephen Inglis, Learning You By Heart shows what a talent this talented musician is. The album combines plenty of Polynesian and nostalgic American styles, plus easy listening rock and roll.
The main track, “Learning You By Heart” has plenty of Stephen’s Hawaiian influences, a very calm relaxing song that nicely sets the tone for this somewhat unique album. The album does at times seems not sure in what musical direction it wants to go into as its myriad of genre blending styles leaves this album as an acquired taste. Lots of folks may not “get” what Stephen is trying to accomplish here but his talent is definitely evident. It’s worth at least a listen to.
