The song made its first-ever live performance premiere on the popular sketch comedy series
Stevie Nicks made her first appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) in four decades this weekend for the first-ever live performance of her new womenโs rights anthem โThe Lighthouseโ with Ariana Grande serving as host.
Written by Nicks pulling from her reflections and experiences, the song is meant as a battle cry to current, past, and future generations of women during this pivotal moment in history.
The Grammy Award-winning, two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee also performed her electrifying hit โEdge of Seventeenโ to wild applause from the SNL audience.
Nicks first appeared on the sketch comedy series in 1983 when she performed “Nightbird” and “Stand Back.”
“The Lighthouse” was recorded at Historic RCA Studio A in Nashville and produced by Nicks, Sheryl Crow, and Dave Cobb. Crow and Cobb also performed on the track that was released last month.
Nicks’ next concert date is scheduled for March 29th at Detroit’s Ford Field with co-headliner Billy Joel. The tour stop is part of the duo’s co-headlining One Night Only dates that began in 2023.
SNLย began its 50th season this fall. Since its inception in 1975, SNL is the most Emmy-nominated show in history and holds 101 Emmy wins, including awards for its specials and short-form series. The TV show has been honored twice in 1990 and 2009 with the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame. The show continues to garner the highest ratings and largest audience of any late-night television program, entertaining millions each week on linear and digital platforms.
