The song is the latest from their When We Were Kings album
Stryper is sharing a fresh track called “Unforgivable” along with a new music video. The track appears on their 2024 epic album, When We Were Kings, available via Frontiers Music Srl.
“‘Unforgivable’ is the song that went under the radar, yet many fans responded and said it was one of their favorites. It has a groove like no other, and weโre very excited to be able to release it as a single and video. We canโt thank you all enough for supporting all the new music and helping the band achieve 40+ years of success,” frontman Michael Sweet says.
Stryper’s current lineup includes original members Michael and Robert Sweet, and Oz Fox, along with bassist Perry Richardson.
Looking ahead, the band is also working on a Kickstarter-funded documentary film directed by Chris Atkins.
Sweet also confirms the band is in the midst of recording its first Christmas album, slated for release this fall.
“Today the guys are going home. We accomplished a lot in 13 days! Everything is sounding absolutely amazing. Danny and I will go through all the songs today and make some adjustments to levels and prep mixes for me to sing too,” he writes on Facebook. “Iโll then go home and take a day or two off and then Iโll start singing and tracking vocals. Iโll have that wrapped up before we leave for Sweden. And then when we get back from Sweden, mixes will be finalized and it will be mastered and get turned in by the end of June or the very beginning of July.
“This album has its own unique signature to it and itโs becoming a favorite of mine. Thereโs just something about it thatโs really special and unique. An album weve wanted to do for so many years and here we are. We tried some different things on this album in terms of the sound but yet we didnโt venture too far away from who we are and what we do. Itโs 100% Stryper yet it has some new flavors here and there and itโs really amazing how it turned out. It will be released this year.”
Sweet also says the band will return to the studio in January to record a new album.
“Weโll also be starting on a brand new album in January of next year. It will be our 18th studio album (unless my math is wrong). Weโre almost at my goal of 21 albums. Then I have to catch up with the solo albums. With the release of the inspirational album, Iโll be at 12. My goal with that is also 21,” he adds.
