Five-Time CMA Awards Vocal Duo of the Year Are Back in the Studio
GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Award-winning Country duo Sugarland has announced their upcoming single, “Still The Same,” will be available worldwide with all digital partners on December 21st. Signifying their return, the song will be released through a joint venture between Big Machine Records and UMG Nashville. The Big Machine Records’ radio promo team will introduce “Still The Same” to country radio in 2018.
“We are thrilled for fans to hear our new music, especially this new single,” states Jennifer Nettles. “The title of the song is so meaningful to us as we want fans to know, we are still the same, we are still the same Sugarland they’ve known and loved”.
Kristian Bush adds, “We want to finish where we left off. We always knew were going to make music again, so this has been the best of both worlds. We were able to take time to feed our personal passions, and we’re excited to come back together to create music as a band again.”
Sugarland has sold nearly ten million albums domestically, achieving high-mark sales with Platinum-certified The Incredible Machine, 2X Platinum Love On The Inside and 3X Platinum Twice The Speed Of Life as well as Enjoy The Ride. The superstars have also garnered Platinum-certified singles “All I Want to Do” and “Stay” as well as 2X Platinum hit “Stuck Like Glue.” The pair has amassed Gold-certified smashes with “Baby Girl,” “It Happens,” “Settlin’,” “Something More” and “Want To” while enjoying a host of industry accolades, including five consecutive CMA Awards for Vocal Duo of the Year (2007-2011), five ACM Awards (including Song of the Year and Single of the Year) and GRAMMY Awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and Best Country Song for “Stay.” The chart-toppers have earned seven No. 1 singles to date and amassed over 260 million on-demand streams.
Currently back in the studio working on their new album and mapping out tour dates for 2018, Sugarland is set to perform at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018 from New York City’s Times Square on December 31st.
The news comes following the group’s surprise reunion last month at the 51st Annual CMA Awards when they presented Duo of the Year during the ceremony, hinting at a return. After the show, the duo surprised guests at the Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) after party by performing “Baby Girl” and “Stay.” Earlier this week, they appeared on the syndicated The Bobby Bones Show in which they made the tour announcement and spoke more in depth about their reunion.
