SXSW offering limited edition NFTs

Blockchain Creative Labs teams with Texas festival

Blockchain Creative Labs (BCL), FOX Entertainment’s NFT studio and South By Southwest’s (SXSW) inaugural Blockchain category sponsor, is launching the SXSW x BCL NFT marketplace, starting today (Sat, Mar 12th). Open until March 20th and featuring original song NFTs and film poster NFTs from official SXSW artists and film premieres, the SXSW x BCL NFT marketplace enables conference attendees to purchase and claim collectible, one-of-one, rare and other limited NFTs while at the conference in Austin. Guests are invited to learn more about the marketplace and discover the available NFT content at Blockchain Creative Labs’ immersive Trinity Hall at 5th & Trinity, located at 311 East 5th Street in downtown Austin from 9 am until 5 pm CT and 8 pm until 11 pm CT each day this weekend.

NFTs demonstrate the power of disintermediated bonds between artists and fans by allowing artists to engage in a new fashion with their audiences. Creators are able to provide rare, unique digital experiences to fans looking for compelling ways to deepen their connection to their favorite musicians and filmmakers. During the festival, attendees will be able to participate in drops, purchase NFTs and collect POAPs simply by connecting their digital wallet to the SXSW x BCL Marketplace. At the SXSW marketplace, fans will find over 200 artists, musicians and filmmakers with NFTs for sale, as well as the official SXSW NFT Mascot — “Batfan” — for $30. The SXSW x BCL POAP not only serves as a piece of collectible digital artwork, it’s also proof attendees were part of SXSW 2022.

Artists releasing song NFTs at SXSW x BCL NFT include Grammy Award winner KT Tunstall, Portrait XO, Solar Flare, Callie Twisselman, Morris Mills, Electra Mustaine, Detalji, Big Bill, Lesibu Grand, Robynn Shayne, Kiana V, Hēran Soun, Icaro Del Soll, David Shabani, Galvezton, Krisheena Suarez & iamDES, Indrajit Banerjee, Kovic, Housekeys, Migs718, The Brothers Moore, Tim Arnold, Johnny Chops, Blato Zlato and Enjoyable Listens. SXSW attendees are invited to discover artists performing at SXSW via the blockchain at the BCL_RecordBlocks station at 5th and Trinity.

BCL is also collaborating with filmmakers to take their original SXSW premiere posters and immortalize them as one-of-one, rare and other limited NFTs that will be available on the SXSW x BCL NFT marketplace. Films to feature poster NFTs on the marketplace include the documentaries Still Working 9 to 5, from directors Camille Hardman and Gary Lane, Mama Bears and The Pez Outlaw; Seriously Red, starring and executive produced by Rose Byrne; It Is In Us All; and A Lot of Nothing, co-written and directed by Mo McRae – all of which will be dropped during the SXSW Film Premiere NFT “Countdown-to-Minting” Poster Party on Sunday, March 13th.

At the heart of Blockchain Creative Labs @ SXSW is the BCL_NFT_Gallery, which will celebrate and drop a series of diverse and new NFT art, music, movie posters and other content from such creators as global superstar and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee Dolly Parton and her Web3 experience; Bento Box Entertainment’s TikTok studio, A Studio; FOX’s upcoming animated comedy, KRAPOPOLIS, from Dan Harmon; “The MaskVerse”; and more. On Friday, March 18th, Parton will give her first ever performance at SXSW, which will be live streamed for free on the blockchain at welcometodollyverse.com by BCL and Eluvio.

As part of the Gallery, BCL is also hosting the London-based start-up øxArt, a Web3 platform bridging the traditional and digital art worlds by facilitating physical art to be marketed and traded as NFTs on the blockchain. At SXSW, øxArt will launch the first curated exhibition of physical art sold via NFT Deeds that serve as certificates of ownership. The collection, entitled “Pioneers,” previewed last week in London.

As part of BCL’s strategy and mission to expand mainstream adoption of NFTs and the blockchain, company representatives also will assist in onboarding guests visiting Blockchain Creative Labs @ SXSW who are looking to step into Web3 and all guest will be taught how to create an NFT wallet to hold their digital assets.
