Taylor Swift earns highest-grossing tour of all time

The global pop star completes the trek with 149 performances

Taylor Swift holds the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time with The Eras Tour. The 21-month trek, which kicked off last spring in Glendale, Arizona, and wrapped over the weekend in Vancouver with her 149th show, grossed over $2.077 billion in ticket sales, doubling the gross ticket sales of any other concert in history, according to Pollstar. Over 10.168 million people attended the shows worldwide, the first for any solo artist.

“We have toured the entire world,” Swift said during her final tour stop Sunday night at BC Place Stadium. “We have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my entire life… I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date — my beloved Eras Tour.”

Swift also gifted $197 million in bonuses to her performers and crew, according to People. This is in addition to $55 million in bonuses she gifted when the first leg wrapped last year in the US.

Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres Tour, Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour, and U2’s 360 Tour round out the top five world-record-breaking tours.

Swift broke many records with the trek as Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film, which was filmed during her six-night stand in Los Angeles in August 2023, was officially named the highest-grossing film in box office history among concert films and documentary films last year. The film raked $261.6 million globally, surpassing Michael Jackson’s This Is It by $400,000.

Swift bypassed major studios and worked directly with AMC for the theatrical release. It took less than 24 hours for the Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour to shatter AMC’s US record for the highest ticket sales revenue during a single day in AMC’s 103-year history. Advanced ticket sales were strong across the United States, from the largest cities to the smallest towns, and are particularly strong in premium large-screen formats like IMAX, Dolby Cinema, Prime at AMC, and other branded premium experiences.

On Black Friday, Swift released The Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Book exclusively through Target stores and online. The book spotlights the Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert from start to finish. The hardcover book features over 500 images, including never-before-seen performance photos from every era and exclusive rehearsal photos and behind-the-scenes images of instruments, costumes, set pieces and designer sketches used throughout the tour. The book also includes personal reflections and notes written by Taylor herself about her experience on the Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. The book sold nearly one million copies in its first week, becoming the highest-selling Week 1 New Release print book and the fast-selling new release book of the last four years, according to Cincana.
