Swift continually breaks records with newly released projects
Taylor Swift continues to break records with each new project she releases and her re-recorded albums are no different. Swift’s third re-recorded project, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), is Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2023 so far and the most-streamed country album in a single day in Spotify history.
The album dropped on Friday, July 7th via Republic Records featuring 22 songs, including five six From the Vault songs that were written during the album’s original era, but not recorded until recently. Fall Out Boy and Paramore’s Hayley Williams are among the guest appearances on the back portion of the project. All of the songs were solo writes by the country-turned-pop star.
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) follows Red (Taylor’s Version) — which surpassed Spotify’s biggest opening day streams of all-time for a female with over 90 million, a record previously held by Swift herself — and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) — which broke records upon its release in summer 2021.
Swift is currently in the midst of releasing re-recorded versions of her first six studio albums following a public feud with her former label, Big Machine Label Group. Taylor’s Versions of her 2006 self-titled debut, 1989 and Reputation are still yet to be released.
Her most recent album, Midnights, dropped in fall 2022 which scored the global superstar the biggest album of the decade and the biggest debut of her career.
During April’s Record Store Day celebration, Swift made history again with the vinyl release of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, logging the “The highest chart debut for a Record Store Day Vinyl ever.” At the time of the announcement, she occupied three spots in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 (No. 3 Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, No. 4 Midnights, No. 10 Lover), joining Whitney Houston as the only female soloist to achieve this milestone.
Swift is currently on The Eras Tour. She initially announced 27 dates last fall and then added eight and an additional 17 new dates within two weeks. Swift will play multiple nights in all cities, tallying to 53 shows in US stadiums in 2023. International dates in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Australia have all been announced through summer 2024.
