The Band Perry’s Neil Perry announces solo debut single

“If You Can’t, Don’t” will be available on October 25th

Neil Perry of The Band Perry stands bravely in the light of day with the announcement of his debut single “If You Can’t, Don’t,” set to release on October 25th. This ballad of unvarnished truth and layered meanings perfectly showcases what Perry is capable of, revealing the truth of what it means to love someone unconditionally.

“I wrote ‘If You Can’t, Don’t’ about those moments when we’re tempted to compromise ourselves,” says Perry. “Staying true to who you are and what you believe in is far more important than anyone or anything that demands you to change. Nothing and no one is worth sacrificing your identity or values.”

Penned by Perry with Jet Harvey and Jackson Nance, the folksy song is about acknowledging imperfections and putting oneself on the line, choosing to lead with vulnerability rather than hide behind a mask – even if it means losing the one you love. With quiet resolve, the tender track is filled with lyrics about owning our flaws and just asking for a chance – whether that’s in love, or perhaps in Perry’s next musical chapter.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning producer Nathan Chapman helps the singer-songwriter put his best sonic foot forward, bathing the tune in gentle roots pop with tasteful Western touches. Matching airy textures and rich reverb with twangy baritone guitars and misty steel runs, Perry’s honest vocal makes his intentions clear – he’ll stand up for what he believes in, even if it means standing alone. This may be Perry’s first solo release, but he is no stranger to the limelight. Leading with the truth, this is just the beginning for Perry as a new project is underway, his debut solo album.
