The Neighbourhood doesn’t draw you in with ‘Sweater Weather’

Currently at #2 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Songs chart, “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood is a decent song that does not offer much in the way of fun listening.

The song has that vacant, echo-ey Death Cab-sound that seems to be especially popular right now (see also: Imagine Dragons), but unlike Imagine Dragons (and especially Death Cab for Cutie) there’s not much to draw the listener in beyond the ethereal sound of the song.

The addition of the acoustic guitar at 2:42 is a nice touch, but ultimately “Sweater Weather” — a song about it being “too cold” — comes away as bleak and uninviting. Or, simply, “too cold.”
