The Weeknd scores largest EP streaming debut of all time

Third Consecutive No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart 

Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling music artist The Weeknd has secured his third consecutive No. 1 album with his latest project My Dear Melancholy. In addition to the No. 1 album, The Weeknd secures the No. 1 streaming and digital song with “Call Out My Name.”

The project, which surprised fans on March 30th when it dropped digitally via XO/Republic Records, earned 169,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 5th, according to Nielsen Music. This is the biggest week for an R&B album more than a year, since his own last album. The title bows with 94,000 SEA units, which equates to 140.8 million on-demand audio streams of the set’s songs (each SEA unit is equal to 1,500 streams), according to Billboard. This makes it the largest streaming debut of all time.

The CD component will be released on Friday, April 13th. ‪In addition to the music, a limited edition T-shirt has been designed by XO’s creative collective for the project and is now available exclusively on shop.theweeknd.com.
