The Weezer Cruise, curated by Grammy Award-winning group Weezer, sets sail this February 13-17, 2014, going from Jacksonville to a private “island in the sun,” in Nassau and Freeport. The music festival-at-sea, which features Toro Y Moi, DIIV, The Cribs, Ash, Palma Violets, Holy F*ck, Bleached, Caveman, The Orwells, Ozma, The Relationship, Adam Devine from Workaholics, Doug Benson, Scott & Rivers and a special Island concert from Cat Power has announced the first batch of onboard activities.
“The first Weezer Cruise was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Talk about ‘the good life.’ Can’t wait to do it again!” states fan favorite comedian Doug Benson who will be returning to the Weezer Cruise.
Besides checking out the performances on four stages through the day and night aboard the Carnival Fascination, cruisers will get a rare chance to see their favorite musicians off-stage as well. Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo is set to do an intimate “Alone” session with Q&A. There will be an acoustic set from River’s Japanese language project, Scott and Rivers. Brian Bell will conduct a coffee tasting with guests. Pat Wilson will host a mini golf tournament and show some of his favorite YouTube Videos. Scott Shriner will lead a workout session on the Lido deck and once again lead couples through wedding vow renewals.
Attendees can also participate in four fun themed night activities: Weezer’s Birthday Party; a Valentine’s Masquerade Ball and a Death to False Metal Night. The final theme night will be voted on by cruisers and fans.
“I am looking forward to these equally great activities and theme nights we will be doing on next years cruise.”
Weezer fans will have the opportunity to see the band play both in the on board show room and on the beach of a private island. As a thank you for all those on board for coming, all attendees will get their photos taken with Weezer during the cruise.
The other bands on the cruise will also be doing activities with fans on board. Movie night with Caveman, Palma Violets ping pong, Toro Y Moi and Bleached will host Karaoke, DJ set from Holy F*ck and Karl, hang by the pool with The Orwells, bingo with The Cribs, yoga with Ozma, and a Casino Night hosted by Adam Devine. Fans can take in the ship’s amenities like a massage in the spa, riding the water slide, or ordering from the 24-hour free room service menu. Guests will have two ports in which to enjoy the Caribbean, Freeport and Nassau.
“One of my favorite parts of the last Weezer cruise was getting to do cool stuff with everyone on the boat,” states Rivers Cuomo. “Things I remember most are when we went snorkeling and had this amazing 80’s prom night. I am looking forward to these equally great activities and theme nights we will be doing on next years cruise.”
