Surprise song was co-written alongside father Rhett Akins

While continuing to spontaneously preview new music on social media the past two years, superstar and prolific songwriter Thomas Rhett drops “Things Dads Do,” available via The Valory Music Co. Teaming up with his dad Rhett Akins to write the track alongside Matt Dragstrem and Chase McGill, the timely song effortlessly deploys entertaining tongue-and-cheek lyrics highlighting the amusing habits of fatherhood, while also chronicling the tender full-circle journey of ultimately turning into your dad. Thomas Rhett debuted “Things Dads Do” on the Grand Ole Opry stage over the weekend.

“This is probably my favorite song I’ve gotten to write with my dad,” Rhett shares.” I’ve learned so many life lessons from him, and it’s pretty wild to see so much of him in myself now that I’m a dad. It felt like we should go ahead to release it for all of y’all who have been asking since we wrote it and to celebrate all the dads out there!”

On April 30th, Rhett dropped the first part of his fifth studio double album titled Country Again: Side A, with “Side B” planned for release later this year. No word if “Things Dads Do” will appear on the project.

In August, Rhett will embark on his headlining The Center Point Road Tour, produced by Live Nation. The trek will kick-off on August 13th with back-to-back nights in Orange Beach, AL and feature special guests Cole Swindell and Gabby Barrett. Tickets previously purchased will be honored accordingly for the rescheduled dates due to the pandemic.
