McGraw embarks on the Here on Earth Tour in July
Tim McGraw has left Sony Music Entertainment after three years. Billboard confirms the split after three years that included a duets album with wife Faith Hill and two Top 20 singles. Both artists were signed as individual artists in February 2017 that was supposed to include multiple solo albums from each. Hill remains with the label.
In October 2018, McGraw simultaneously released “Neon Church” and “Thought About You.” “Church” made it to No. 20 on the Country Airplay chart upon its release while “You” went to No. 17 last year. An album was expected last year, but was never released.
“I love that there are no rules anymore and I can give fans more music at once,” McGraw shared when the songs were released. “I really felt that both these songs were ready to be heard and will absolutely give a sense of where I’m going with my next project. They’re meaningful to me and show the diversity of what I’ve been working on musically.”
McGraw is set to embark on the Here on Earth Tour 2020 that is set to include his new album Here on Earth on CD. No word on how that promotion will be affected, if at all, or if “Neon Church” and “Thought About You” will appear on it. The tour includes two stadium dates with Luke Combs.
Prior to signing with Sony Music, McGraw released three albums with Big Machine Music Group and a slew of hit albums with Curb Records. McGraw spent part of his time with Big Machine in litigation with Curb for copyright infringement for his Two Lanes Of Freedom Big Machine released in February 2013. Curb ultimately lost the suit and McGraw continued to record and release new music.
