“Nunca Te Olvides de Amar” is available at Latin radio
Tim McGraw has unveiled the worldwide release of a Spanish language version of his hit song “Humble and Kind” called “Nunca Te Olvides de Amar.” The Grammy award winning English version spent multiple weeks at No. 1 on radio, sales and video charts, earning song of the year awards from the Country Music Association and American Music Association as well as CMT Video of the Year accolades. McGraw’s vision for the song was universal from the outset, and the initial campaign won a coveted Clio Award. The message of the song sparked a social media movement to encourage random acts of kindness.
“We want to continue to celebrate positive stories that embody the lyric and message of the song – from the most simple to the extraordinary,” McGraw says in a press release. The single is produced by Byron Gallimore, McGraw and Claudia Brant, who also shares writer credit on the Spanish version with Lori McKenna.
“Humble and Kind (Nunca Te Olvides de Amar)” is now available at Latin radio.
“I’ve said repeatedly that ‘Humble and Kind’ has a universal message, so singing the song in Spanish, for me, is a way to really stand up to that statement. It’s one thing to say ‘I’m being universal’ and it’s another thing for me to try to reach out across a language barrier and put in the effort to deliver that same message. To make someone understand that you’re trying to love them through a song and work to make people feel it is a pretty cool thing. My Spanish may not be perfect, my accent may not be perfect, but if I can reach out and touch someone in a language that’s not my own – that’s a good enough reason enough to try,” states McGraw.
He continues, “In songwriting, language has to rhyme and fit into the phrasing of the melody, so the song doesn’t translate exactly word for word. But Claudia Brant did an incredible job of translating the sentiment and heart of ‘Humble and Kind’ into ‘Nunca Te Olvides de Amar.’ The translated title means ‘Never Forget to Love’. For me humility and kindness couldn’t be more literally translated into never forgetting to love someone and never losing the love that you have for people.”
McGraw has also released a “Humble And Kind (Nunca Te Olvides De Amar)” music video, directed by Wes Edwards, featuring scenes from Oprah Winfrey’s groundbreaking documentary Belief, which depicts how people with a wide range of beliefs search for deeper meaning and connection with the world around them. The song’s music video marries these universal scenes of faith and life with a dramatic McGraw performance, captured by a one-of-a-kind 360 degree turntable lighting rig which provides a big looping light highlighting the passage of time. The lyrics serve as a poignantly complementary soundtrack to the vivid, emotional storytelling and cinematic visual imagery of the series, which aired on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
