Timothée Chalamet portrays Bob Dylan in the Fox Searchlight film A Complete Unknown. Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, the movie follows the Minnesota musician’s meteoric rise as a folk singer at 19 to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
Disney/Searchlight dropped the biopic’s trailer today (Tues, July 24th), giving fans a first glimpse of Chalamet as Dylan walking the streets of New York City before taking the stage at an intimate gig.
Additional cast members include Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz and Scoot McNairy.
The film is directed by James Mangold with a screenplay by Mangold and Jay Cocks.
A Complete Unknown is produced by Mangold, Chalamet, Fred Berger, Alex Heineman, Peter Jaysen, Bob Bookman, Alan Gasmer, and Jeff Rosen.
The movie opens in theaters in December with a UK and Ireland release planned for January 2025.
