The Music Universe is excited to host the Exclusive Premiere of rising indie singer/songwriter, Carrington MacDuffie’s “Because I Couldn’t Have You Lockdown Video.” This video features MacDuffie and her band making the best of social distancing while rocking out and recording the single from different locations around the world.
“In this song, and in the video, I play the part of a girl who’s being resourceful and upbeat in the midst of heartache,” MacDuffie shares. “Without detachment and a sense of humor she would see herself as a victim of that heartache, and then this would be a country song. But she doesn’t, and it isn’t. Thanks to my great bandmates and to The Music Universe for helping to lend lively expression to a playful point of view in times plagued by doubt!”
On April 24th, MacDuffie released a five song EP titled I’m The One. With singles reviewed and premiered on Guitar Girl Magazine, Digital Journal and other notable outlets, the EP received much deserved attention. MacDuffie has been keeping the music alive and engaging with fans during times of social distancing with the creation of this lockdown video, releasing new music and making her social platforms a positive and enlightening space for all. MacDuffie plans to release new singles within the next month.
In life and in art, Carrington MacDuffie is an adventurer. A New York native who now splits her time between Austin and Seattle – after a decade beachside in Los Angeles – she travels the globe and joyfully explores diverse universes of thought and practice. Whether making music, writing poetry, voicing works of literature, piloting a fixed-wing airplane, or savoring the Zen-like concentration of target shooting, she is led by her passion for creativity, and her endless fascination with exploring both the world outside and her inner muses.
As a singer-songwriter, Carrington first released work in 2014. Her love for music was sparked in early childhood while listening to the records that her dad, a huge music aficionado, was spinning — Teddy Wilson, Beethoven, Herb Alpert, Hudson River folk, Scottish marches, Bob Dylan, classic rock, and the Beatles, among many other artists and genres. Those far-reaching influences weave through her entire body of work, and stand out in her newest singles and her most recent EP I’m The One.
