Keith is recovering from stomach cancer

Toby Keith has canceled all 2022 tour dates as he recovers from stomach cancer. At the time of the announcement on Sunday (June 12th), the country star’s website still had tour dates listed through the fall. By Monday afternoon (June 13th), all dates were removed, confirming that he’d be focused on his recovery.

“I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later,” he initially shared.

Keith shared he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and has undergone multiple treatments of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Although no further details have been revealed, Keith shares a positive prognosis.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good,” he writes.

Many of Keith’s celebrity friends have sent him well wishes, including Sammy Hagar, Bret Michaels and Garth Brooks.

“Wishing my big buddy a speedy recovery and a whole lotta love from most redheads around the world,” Hagar tweets.

“Toby Keith my heart, soul & prayers are always with you & your family. My friend keep your incredible warrior spirit,” Bret Michaels shares.

“If you know Toby, he’s a fighter anyway. What I love about him is he’s so quiet and humble. Anyway, when you talk about Toby, it’s real loud and entertaining, but him as a man, he’s just really quiet and humble,” Brooks says on his Facebook Live series, Inside Studio G. “All of our thoughts and prayers are you with, Toby. We’ll check in and see if there’s anything we can do for him. He’s done so much for so many people.”

Despite his condition, Keith has managed to release new music with Peso In My Pocket dropping in October 2021. His latest single, “Oklahoma Breakdown” was just released and follows the album’s first single, “Old School,” which enjoyed the highest chart debut of Keith’s storied career.

Last month, the charitable Keith raised more than $1.38 million for his OK Kids Korral, the cost-free home for families of children being treated at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. It’s the third highest total ever for his annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic.
