Songwriters Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw returns with holiday special and new season

Award winning songwriter Victoria Shaw — who is the writer of No. 1 hits such as Garth Brooks’ ”The River” and Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera’s “Nobody Wants To Be Lonely” — returns as host of Songwriters Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw that features intimate storytelling and acoustic performances from bestselling songwriters. Shaw’s genuine friendships with fellow songwriters provide rare access to the stories behind some of pop, rock and country music’s top hits.

The series is available on the free All Arts app and online, and in the New York metro area on the All Arts TV channel at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. Nashville Public TV (NPT) will premiere season two on Fridays at 11 pm CT beginning January 15th, and will distribute to other Tennessee public TV outlets. Check local listings.

New episodes begin with the Songwriters Under the Covers Holiday Special featuring Jim Brickman and Dave Barnes, premiering nationwide Wednesday, December 2nd at 8 pm ET. Brickman and Barnes get you in the holiday spirit with festive performances and heartwarming stories with special guests Anita Cochran and Wendy Moten. Hits include “God Gave Me You,” “The Christmas Song” and “Christmas Tonight.”

Songwriters Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw season two features six new episodes premiering nationwide Thursdays, January 14-February 18th. Featured guests include GRAMMY winners Clint Black, Garth Brooks, Keb’ Mo’ and Liz Rose (Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”), as well as Tommy Shaw (Styx, Damn Yankees), Shelly Peiken (Christina Aguilera’s “What a Girl Wants”) and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Roger Cook (“I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)”).

“I’m so excited to continue giving people a peek into the intimate behind-the-scenes stories of how and why some of the most famous songs were written,” states Shaw, who also created the series. “You met a lot of my talented songwriter friends last season, and you’ll get to meet a lot more this season, along with some insanely talented emerging artists.”

Songwriters Under the Covers: Jimmie Allen and Liz Rose premieres nationwide Thursday, January 14th. GRAMMY Award winner Liz Rose, known for writing megahits with Taylor Swift (“You Belong With Me,” “White Horse”), joins country hitmaker Jimmie Allen (“Best Shot,” “Make Me Want To”) for a night of songs and stories. Erin Kinsey is a special guest.

Songwriters Under the Covers: Shelly Peiken and Chely Wright premieres nationwide Thursday, January 21st. Multi-platinum Shelly Peiken sings and dishes on her hits (“What A Girl Wants,” “Bitch”) while artist and activist Chely Wright highlights her own chart toppers (“Single White Female,” “Bumper of my SUV”). Carly and Martina are special guests.

Songwriters Under the Covers: Clint Black and Bob DiPiero premieres nationwide Thursday, January 28th. GRAMMY Award winner, multi-platinum artist and country royalty Clint Black (“Killin’ Time”) joins Bob DiPiero, hitmaker to the stars (Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill), for a night of songs and stories. Maggie Rose is a special guest.

Songwriters Under the Covers: Roger Cook and Jess Leary premieres nationwide Thursday, February 4th. Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee and hitmaking legend Roger Cook (“I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)”), joins hit writer and songstress Jess Leary (“Where the Green Grass Grows”) for a night of songs and stories. Cooper Alan is a special guest.

Songwriters Under the Covers: Keb’ Mo’ and Jim Photoglo premieres nationwide Thursday, February 11th. Five-time GRAMMY Award winner Keb’ Mo’ (“Old Me Better,” “Just Like You”) joins Jim Photoglo, hitmaker to the stars (Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Dusty Springfield, Alabama), for a night of songs and stories. Essex County is a special guest.

Songwriters Under the Covers: Tommy Shaw and Garth Brooks premieres nationwide Thursday, February 18th. Seven-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and No. 1-selling solo artist in U.S. history Garth Brooks (“The River,” “The Dance”) joins Styx front man Tommy Shaw (“Renegade,” “High Enough”) for a night of songs and stories. Ruby Amanfu is a special guest.
