Trace Adkins’ wife files for divorce

Irreconcilable differences is being claimed

The wife of country superstar Trace Adkins has filed for divorce after nearly 17 years of marriage together.

ABC News reports Rhonda Adkins filed the motion in Williamson County, Tennessee this week citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple married in 1997 and separated as of Monday, March 24th.

The singer has three minor children with Rhonda, all daughters aged 16, 12 and 9, while Trace has two other daughters with an ex-wife.

Rhonda is asking for custody of the three girls, child support and alimony from Trace.

Adkins has had a rough year. In January, Adkins checked himself into rehab for alcohol abuse after an alleged brawl with a Trace Adkins impersonator on the Norwegian Pearl cruise. He left treatment in February to be with his ailing father, Aaron, who recently died at 71.

Adkins had been sober for the past 12 years after completing a previous stint in rehab in 2002.

No word if Adkins’ alcohol relapse has caused the divorce.
