The pop star’s debut album is celebrated with a Billboard Women in Music award
Global star Tyla surprises fans and music critics with the official remix to her latest single, “Push 2 Start,” featuring Grammy Award-winning dancehall artist Sean Paul. “Push 2 Start” is Tyla’s latest breakout single from the deluxe edition of her debut album, Tyla+. The record, which made history upon its release last year, has entered multiple charts globally, including the Billboard Hot 100 Charts, and currently holds No. 1 for eight weeks on Billboard US Afrobeats Songs Charts. In recognition of her global dominance and prolific chart performance for her debut album, Epic Records presented Tyla with a commemorative plaque in Los Angeles last month. Tyla’s catalog has become impressively expansive, and her impact continues to grow at an exponential rate.
Her latest certifications include double platinum in Thailand, platinum in Indonesia and the Philippines, and gold in South Africa, Canada, and the United States for her beloved debut album, Tyla. “Water,” the historic mega-hit that earned Tyla the distinction of being the highest-charting African female soloist in Billboard Hot 100 history, has earned a triple diamond honor in Turkey, diamond in Brazil, quadruple platinum in South Africa, triple platinum in the United States and Canada, as well as double platinum in the UK, France, and India.
Follow-up records to “Water” have also continued to blossom. “Truth or Dare” and “Art” have generated global gold certifications; both have achieved that mark in South Africa, while “Truth or Dare” has also reached gold in the United States and Canada. “Jump,” which achieved a peak of No. 3 on the Billboard Afrobeats Chart in 2024, receives platinum certifications in Turkey, Spain, and Malaysia, to pair with gold plaques in South Africa, Canada, and Australia.
Next month, Tyla will perform at the Billboard Women In Music Awards and receive the Impact Award for her undeniable global influence. Her awe-inspiring impact continues to fuel her historic journey, and she has only just scratched the surface.
