U2 celebrates The Joshua Tree 2017 Tour with special offerings

In celebration of U2 launching The Joshua Tree 2017 Tour this weekend in Vancouver, the group is offering fans a radio special and a vinyl collection for subscribers. U2: The Joshua Tree Special is set to air on more than 100 radio stations this weekend.

@U2 reports the two hour special is hosted by MTV Personality/acclaimed host Matt Pinfield who interviewed the band about the making of the album, the 30th anniversary reissue that will be available June 2nd, and the anniversary tour.

“It was amazing to discuss everything surrounding The Joshua Tree with the guys,” Pinfield states. “Over the course of our 30+ year friendship, I’ve seen them live many times and I think fans are in for something special on this 30th-anniversary tour. It will be magical.”

KLOS-FM/Los Angeles, WLUP-FM/Chicago, KFOG-FM/San Francisco, WROR-FM/Boston, KSHE-FM/St. Louis, WIYY-FM/Baltimore, and KQRS/Milwaukee are among the stations airing the special May 13th and 14th. Check with your local station for an exact day and time.

Subscribers of U2.com will receive The Joshua Tree Singles Vinyl Collection: 1987 & 2017 as their yearly gift for 2017. The unique limited edition collection will feature four 10″ vinyl records, each containing the remastered original studio track on side A and a live performance of the same track from this year’s summer tour on side B. The tracks are “With Or Without You,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “Where The Streets Have No Name” and “In God’s Country.”

The label on each vinyl record features previously unseen color portraits by Anton Corbijn. The discs come in a sleeve capturing the original band member portrait from the 7″ single cover along with a brand new live image from the 2017 shows.

The limited run set is being specifically produced for U2.com subscribers paying the $50 annual dues and will not be available anywhere else. Subscribers will be able to download all of the tracks over the next few months with physical delivery anticipated for September.

For $85, subscribers can also upgrade their membership and receive Another Time, Another Place, double 10″ vinyl that features a rare live concert from 1980. Recorded at the legendary Marquee Club in London, the set comes from a period when the band were taking early songs including “The Electric Co,” “I Will Follow” and “Out of Control” on the road across Ireland and the UK. The set has been digitally remastered and includes a download link.
