U2 releases ‘You’re The Best Thing About Me’

The single is the second release from Songs of Experience

U2 has released “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” the official first single from their forthcoming Songs of Experience album. The release follows last week’s surprise gift of “The Blackout” performance video, another track from the upcoming album.

The new single features a sleeve image by Anton Corbijn of The Edge’s daughter Sian Evans. U2.com subscribers will be getting a special visual art piece featuring the single.

The group has performed “The Little Things That Give You Away” during encores of several dates on The Joshua Tree Tour 2017. U2 will perform the pop infused track tomorrow night (Thurs, Sept 7th) on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

Songs Of Experience, the band’s 14th studio album, is the companion release to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence. The two titles draw inspiration from a collection of poems, Songs of Innocence and Experience, by the 18th century English mystic and poet William Blake.

While Songs of Innocence charted the band’s earliest influences and experiences in the late 1970s and early 80s, the new album is a collection of songs in the form of intimate letters to places and people close to the Bono’s heart; family, friends, fans, himself.

Songs of Experience will be available on CD, vinyl and digital download, with the release date and pre-order details to be announced soon. The Irish Sun reports that U2 will release Songs Of Experience on Friday, December 1st, World AIDS Day, in conjunction with Project Red, an initiative set up by Bono to raise funds to fight the disease.
