U2 teases fans with Christmas announcements

2017 will be a big year for the band and its fans

U2 is spreading cheer to its fan this Christmas morning with two special announcements. The band posted a video on social media featuring all four members around a decorated Joshua Tree. In the video, The Edge is playing “The Little Drummer Boy” on guitar while Adam Clayton decorates the tree and Larry Mullen, Jr., plays with a talking Santa doll as Bono shares some exciting news.

“Happy Christmas,” Bono says. “Happy Christmas, everyone. Next year’s gonna be a big year for the U2 group. We have Songs Of Experience coming and to honor 30 years of The Joshua Tree, we have some very, very special shows coming. Very special. Joshua Tree.”

The video ends with the band walking out of frame to reveal the decorated tree with “Let It Snow” playing from Santa.

No other details were given about either project, but it’s likely the “special shows” are the band performing The Joshua Tree in its entirety. Songs Of Experience will be the band’s follow up to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence. More details as they become available.

Merry Christmas!
