Rare rehearsal footage shows Brooks with his band rocking the tune
Before Garth Brooks put on a body suit and portrayed an aging rock star as Chris Gaines in 1999, he worked up a rock version of one of his biggest hits, “The Dance,” from his 1989 self-titled debut album.
A rare black and white video of Brooks rehearsing the song with his band at the Target Dome in Minneapolis in the mid ’90s has been posted online. In the video, Brooks performs the song normally before quickly erupting into a quicker rock version of the classic track. Brooks sings the rock version with a more edgier, raspy voice than the more gentle heartfelt country version.
This video is considered one of the most rare Garth Brooks videos in history so enjoy it while you can before it’s gone!
