An official announcement is expected
Life is a Highway which appears to be leading to a Rascal Flatts reunion after a five-year hiatus. Organizers of the Patriotic Festival in Norfolk, Virginia are teasing the 2025 lineup of its annual Memorial Day Weekend event.
The lineup is set to be released on October 14th, but silhouettes of the three headliners were revealed via the festival’s website. One of the acts resembles the trio of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney for opening night, May 23rd.
The trio parted ways after releasing a best-of package in 2020. The album and farewell tour were scheduled to celebrate their 20th anniversary, but the pandemic canceled the trek, and they haven’t worked together since.
LeVox launched a solo career which includes LeVox Wines, a wine collection in partnership with Hayworth Estate Wines. The beloved star released his solo debut One On One in 2021, including inspirational anthems like โThe Distanceโ and heartfelt collabs with Breland, MercyMe, Jonathan McReynolds, and his daughter, Brittany. Other solo projects have included the irrepressible โWe Got Fight,โ featured as the coveted end credit in Netflixโs film The Ice Road, and another faith-forward gem titled โWorking On Sunday,โ but โGet Down Like Thatโ is new territory, and fits well in the country category.
DeMarcus followed the band with a successful songwriting and producing career. In October 2018, he founded the independent Christian label, Red Street Records, and followed that with Red Street Country in 2022. DeMarcus leads the new artistry-driven division and has enlisted a stellar roster of industry veterans and new team members to head up Red Street Country. In the fall of 2023, he released the self-penned “Skin Deep,” for the soundtrack of No Address, which emotionally compounds the film’s storytelling about homelessness in America, bringing a more profound connection for the viewers to the plight of millions who face the epidemic daily. The film is expected to be released in 2024.
Rooney found himself in legal trouble in recent years. In September 2021, he was arrested for DUI while driving under the influence in Nashville after he crashed his car into a tree in nearby Williamson County. The guitaristย pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days for the Class A misdemeanor, but only served two days in jail for the first time offense. The remainder of his sentence was suspended. In January of 2023, Rooney filed for divorce from Tiffany Fallon, his wife of 17 years. The divorce was finalized in the fall with both admitting to extramarital affairs. In January 2024, Rooney updated fans about his new alcohol-free life, stating he’d been sober for over two years.
In 2021, LeVox told People that Rooney had quit the band and was never “OK with the way that it ended.”
Weโll officially get confirmation about the reunion one of These Days.
The Patriotic Festival is slated for May 23-25, 2025, at the Scope Arena Complex in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia.
