New tracks set tone for 2023 debut album

Trailblazing husband-and-wife duo The War And Treaty drop their surprise Blank Page EP today (Wed, Nov 9th), ahead of their first-ever CMA Awards performance tonight. The four songs, produced by Dave Cobb, are the catalyst to their forthcoming album under UMG Nashville that showcases a sound that cuts through the whole of southern music tradition – from blues, soul and R&B, to gospel, country, folk and rock. Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter reach the next creative level as their story continues to play out with the duo’s EP that is available at all digital retailers.

“We could not be more excited to release this new body of work into the atmosphere and give fans a chance to experience the heart of our upcoming album,” Michael says. “The song ‘Blank Page’ came at a pivotal moment for Tanya and I because much like everyone else trying to find their footing after the pandemic, we felt as if we were starting over and that can leave anyone feeling crippling or euphoric. It all depends on how you see it…and it just so happen that this time for us it’s euphoric.”

The precursor to their 2023 Lover’s Game album transcends its sonic landscape with new tracks like “Blank Page” that uses a rootsy R&B sway to tribute the kind of love that gives weary hearts a second wind, while “Dumb Luck” offers a pleading prayer for humility with spirit-swelling gospel grit.

Founded in 2014, The War And Treaty have emerged as one of the most electrifying new acts in American music. With a lionhearted sonic blend – both are roaring with passion and tender to the touch. Earning respect, they’ve gone on to appear as top-flight collaborators, and have been recognized by the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry and the Americana Music Association as 2022 Duo/Group of the Year.

The duo have dominated stages across the globe including North America, Europe, Italy, Australia, and Ireland, while headlining their own shows and opening for a diverse group of living legends; Al Green, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, John Legend, Lauren Daigle and Van Morrison among them.

The duo are making waves during their Hearts on Fire Tour which makes its final stops this weekend in Cambridge, MA on Friday (Nov 11th) and Washington DC on Saturday (Nov 12th).
