Cassette Store Day 2017 is October 14th at participating record stores

The White Stripes are reissuing their first three albums on cassette on October 14th. The White Stripes (1999), De Stijl (2000) and White Blood Cells (2001) will be released on white cassettes exclusively for Cassette Store Day 2017, coinciding with the band’s 20th anniversary. Black cassettes will be released in the future.

This is the first-ever authorized cassette release of these now-classic albums, and they will be available in participating record stores on October 14th. Cassette Store Day (CSD) began in the United Kingdom in 2013 and quickly grew to become a global event with the participation of the United States, Japan, Germany and France. Like it’s predecessor, Record Store Day, the event features exclusive releases that cater to collectors.

In continued celebration of the group’s 20th anniversary, Third Man Records has also announced Vault Package #34 featuring The White Stripes Live in Detroit: 1999-2000-2001, a three LP set containing live concerts from July 30, 1999; August 18, 2000 and June 7, 2001.

Each LP in this set is pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Third Man Pressing in Detroit and housed in a custom die-cut sleeve that stylistically deconstructs the Stripes’ album released the year that corresponds to the live performance. High quality reproduction prints of the Jack White-designed posters for each of these shows will be included in each set. Fans have until October 31st to sign up to receive this package.
