40th anniversary two LP edition available this summer

The Who is prepping to release an expanded 2 LP 40th anniversary edition of their 1981 album Face Dances for this year’s Record Store Day. The album was remastered and cut at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road and includes nine additional tracks titled Face Dances Part 3.

The album cover features the original Peter Blake design front and back. Vinyl one is on blue heavyweight vinyl with colored labels and vinyl two is on yellow heavyweight vinyl with colored labels. In addition there are four 12″ x 12″ fine art prints included in the package with four portraits on each print.

For the second consecutive year, Record Store Day will release its extensive list of special titles through independent record stores via RSD Drops, taking place on June 12th and July 17th at participating stores worldwide. The full list is expected soon.

Record Store Day launched RSD Drops in 2020 to follow social distancing guidelines put forth during COVID-19. The RSD Drop dates continue to support indie record stores with sales, while hopefully saving the big parties, shows, in-stores, crowds and celebrations for Record Store Day 2022.
