Willie Nelson donates concert proceeds to West, Texas firefighters

Country music legend and Texas native Willie Nelson announced Thursday (April 18th) that he will donate all proceeds from an upcoming Austin, Texas concert to the West Volunteer Fire Department. Nelson stated in a press release that the previously scheduled performance at The Backyard in Austin on April 28th will now benefit the West firefighters after Wednesday night’s explosion rocked a fertilizer plant and nearly wiped out the entire town.

West lies halfway between Dallas and Austin and is only five miles from Abbott, where Nelson grew up. Nelson took to Twitter Wednesday to send his support to the neighboring town.
