The track — featured on Furious 7: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, Atlantic’s official musical companion to Universal’s blockbuster action-thriller — is of course a global smash, with its deeply touching companion video having just reached one billion individual views at Wiz Khalifa’s official YouTube channel — The fastest video on YouTube in 2015 to reach one billion views.
Featured in Furious 7‘s touching closing tribute to the late Paul Walker, “See You Again” has entered the history books as one of the decade’s biggest singles, topping Billboard’s “Hot 100” for a stunning 12 weeks to tie the record set by Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” for a rap single’s longest run atop the chart. “See You Again” also reached #1 on a number of additional charts, standing atop both Billboard’s “Hot Rap Songs” and “Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs” for an amazing 14 weeks each.
“See You Again” has further proven a worldwide phenomenon, rising to #1 on the iTunes Store’s “Top Songs” chart in the US along with 93 other countries including the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and South Africa.
“See You Again” also shattered Spotify records, still the most streamed track ever on Spotify in a single day, with 4.2 million streams on April 13th alone. “See You Again” went on to make history, ranking at one point as Spotify’s most streamed track in a single week with a stunning 21.9 million worldwide streams. What’s more, “See You Again” reached #1 on Shazam’s Worldwide Chart, as well as Top 200s in the US and the UK.
The “See You Again” companion video — directed by Marc Klasfeld (Jay-Z, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake) and featuring retrospective footage spanning the Fast & Furious franchise’s incredible history — premiered via Furious 7 star Vin Diesel’s personal Facebook page and instantly drew more than 800K Facebook shares and a staggering 40 million views within its first twelve hours online. The GRAMMY-nominated Khalifa also posted the “See You Again” video on his own Facebook page, with Facebook’s new “Donate” call-to-action button allowing fans to donate to Paul Walker’s “Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW)” charity.
Khalifa has celebrated the powerful track with a number of high profile TV appearances, including USA Network’s WWE RAW and NBC’s The Voice.
