Young Thug scores second No 1 album of 2021

Punk tops Billboard 200 Albums chart

In an unstoppable run this year, Young Thug earns his second No. 1 album of 2021 as Punk debuts at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The album, released via Young Stoner Life/300 Entertainment, is Thug’s second album release of the year, following his and Young Stoner Life Records’ compilation album Slime Language 2, which also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April 2021. Punk is also Thug’s third No. 1 album, following Slime Language 2 and 2019’s So Much Fun.

“Artist development and evolution are the biggest forms of currency in the sustainability and relevancy of an artist in the entertainment industry,” shares Kevile Liles, CEO of 300 Entertainment. “Young Thug’s undeniable dedication, vision, and relentless work ethic are unmatched and show how much he has doubled down on his artistry. I’m proud of Young Thug for not only checking the boxes, but creating his own space outside of the box. Though we have been by Young Thug’s side for eight years, his two number one albums in one year is only the beginning of his story.”

Following the monumental release of Punk, Young Thug made his solo debut as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest, alongside host Rami Malek. Thug performed two tracks, “Tick Tock” and “Love You More”, where he was joined by album collaborators Gunna and Nate Ruess, with Travis Barker on drums and Jeff Bhasker on piano.

Punk features include J. Cole, Future, Drake, Travis Scott, Doja Cat, Juice WRLD, Post Malone, Nate Ruess, Young Stoner Life labelmate Gunna and more.

Recognized worldwide as the godfather of new wave rap, Young Thug has broken convention at every single turn and reinvented the sound of popular music; his Grammy award-winning, platinum-selling records have paved the way for generations beyond him. In 2020, he achieved fourteen Billboard charting hits with no album release and released records by artists including Gunna and Lil Keed through Young Stoner Life Records, of which he is the Founder and CEO.
