Band is prepping its fifth studio album

Worldwide chart-topping superstars 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) have signed a new global recordings deal with BMG – their first new label home since the release of their debut album. Fresh off an incredible live performance at Global Citizen Live in Los Angeles, their first live concert appearance in two years, the group is currently preparing their upcoming and highly anticipated new fifth full-length studio album and world tour.

“We are both proud and excited to be sharing this next chapter with the team at BMG,” the band shares collectively. “Their ambition and drive to partner with us was clear from the very beginning and they very much supported our vision for the future. They encourage our independence as recording artists and we love how collaborative this relationship will be, which feels important for us in our 10th year as a band. We want to thank everyone past and present for being part of our journey and can’t wait for our fans to hear new music which will be coming very soon!”

Formed in 2011, 5 Seconds of Summer is a multi-platinum pop/rock band hailing from Australia featuring Luke Hemmings (vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (vocals/guitar), Calum Hood (vocals/bass), and Ashton Irwin (vocals/drums). The band got their start bringing their pure punk energy to pop music and quickly became a global phenomenon. Touring the world several times over, the band have sold over 2.5 million concert tickets, been recognized as the only band in Billboard 200 history to see its first three studio albums debut at No. 1, and amassed over eight billion streams, including recently joining Spotify’s exclusive Billions Club with their hit single “Youngblood.”

Among their many accomplishments, 5SOS have been recognized with numerous prestigious accolades including 10 European Music Awards, five ARIA Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, an American Music Award, a People’s Choice Award, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and three APRA Awards.

Their most recent album, CALM, was released in March 2020, and contains their most sonically ambitious work to date. Collaborating with some of music’s leading producers, the band brought a new depth and dimension to their industrial and harmony-driven sound. Released amidst a global pandemic with international lockdowns, curfews, stay-at-home orders, travel bans, and no live tour in support, the album topped the charts in three countries including the UK and marked the band’s fourth consecutive No. 1 in their home country. This achievement made them the second Australian band in history to have their first four full-length studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Aria albums chart.
