Weather is the band’s tenth studio album

Huey Lewis and the News have announced the release of their next project, Weather, for February 14th via BMG. The seven track LP is the band’s first record of new original material since 2001. It includes their latest single, “Her Love Is Killin’ Me,” an uptempo blues rocker.

“We were in no hurry with these song,” the singer explained earlier this fall. “The more we road-tested them, the tighter they got, and I think we ended up with some of our best work.”

Earlier this year, the group signed with BMG to release its tenth studio album. The group’s last studio release was a 2009 LP of R&B covers.

The album comes after the group canceled performances in 2018 when Lewis lost much of his hearing due to Meniere’s disease. The news scared fans that the band may be retiring after Lewis shared that the “lower frequencies distort violently making it impossible to find pitch” and “I can’t perform until I improve.”

2020 will mark the group’s 40th anniversary in which its contagious brand of music has outlasted countless trends and is as fresh today as ever. They incorporate a variety of musical influences including R&B and soul to create their own unique sound. Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, they continue to thrill audiences worldwide, selling over 20 million albums in the process, earning them the right to mark their place on the pop history map.
