Song is latest from Tornillo

As anticipation grows around Whiskey Myers’ sixth studio album Tornillo, set for release July 29th via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers, the genre-bending band offers a further glimpse at the full-length project with the release of “Whole World Gone Crazy.”

“I wrote ‘Whole World Gone Crazy’ back in April of 2020. There was so much hysteria going on in the world before and around that time that this song just sort of came out of me,” lead guitarist John Jeffers shares with American Songwriter. “Between COVID and everything else, everyone seemed to be going a little nuts. I felt like during all of that, most people were, and still are, just normal people trying to make it another day. Trying to keep their job, praying to the big guy upstairs and working on getting through some crazy times.”

Written solo by Jeffers, who also sings lead vocals on the track, the song’s timely lyrics and sauntering rhythm build over three minutes into a blazing instrumental breakdown showcasing the band’s signature style.

“Whole World Gone Crazy” follows prior Tornillo early releases “Antioch” and lead single “John Wayne.” The album offers the next chapter for the six-piece band.

That live show energy is on full display with the Tornillo Tour underway now, running through the summer with numerous already-sold out stops, including the band’s debut at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater, which sold out within a day of going on sale to the public. Whiskey Myers will also make their debut at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this summer before hosting the return of their personally curated Firewater Music Festival, taking place September 29-October 1 just outside Kansas City.
