The rapper talks about the new projects on ABC’s GMA
This morning (Fri, Jan 26th) on ABC News’ Good Morning America, rapper, actor and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg sat down with Michael Strahan to talk about his latest movie The Underdoggs, and give a surprise announcement. Snoop Dogg told Strahan, “I can let the rabbit out of the hat. I’ve been working on a record with Dr. Dre for the past eight months. We’re about ready to drop a single in a couple of weeks, so that’s what I’ve been cooking up.”
When asked about having so many different projects, he told Strahan, “I’m mastering the craft of who I am, and to be the best who I am, is to do the things that make me feel good. And the main two things is fun, right? F-U-N and F-U-N-D-S, if it makes funds and it’s fun, I’m in.” Adding, “I started off as an underdog. That’s the best dog to ever be because you’re the one they don’t pay attention to. So you gotta figure out how to master you, to where you become the greatest you that you can be.”
When asked what inspired him to make this new film, he said, “I believe my youth football league inspired me to make this film.” Adding, “I spent my money on brand new equipment, bought fields that we rented, referees, rule books, everything, we did it all the right way…Football was the best thing that ever happened to me as a kid. It taught me how to have discipline and have respect. So I wanted to give some of that back that was given to me.”
The film stars Snoop alongside as Jaycen “Two Js” Jennings who is a washed-up ex-professional football star who has hit rock bottom. When Jaycen is sentenced to community service coaching an unruly pee-wee football team, he sees it as an opportunity to turn his life around.
The Underdoggs is now streaming on Prime Video and is produced by MGM Studios.
