The Avett Brothers debut stop-motion ‘Love of a Girl’ video

The band kicks off three sold-out shows at Red Rocks

Last night (Fri, July 5th), to kick off a run of three sold-out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Avett Brothers debuted one of the most miraculous and meticulously crafted music videos they have ever made. Directed by Victor Haegelin, the new visual for “Love Of A Girl” tells a stop-motion story with impeccable attention to detail in the song’s rapid-fire lyrics, breakneck phrasing, and rollicking inflections, referencing everything from haymakers to Huckleberry Finn, herds of sheep, history and heartache. It blends animation and live-action mediums, and these jam-packed three minutes mark another instance of The Avett Brothers’ continued love for constant imagination and character creation.

“I’ve been a fan of Victor Haegelin for years. It was an absolute honor to put our trust and our music in his hands to interpret and run with. Scott and I got to watch the project step by step over the span of a few months, and ultimately were able to witness the video quite literally spring to life…Stop-motion animation is exacting work and requires great focus and dedication, and when it’s done at this level it’s really something to behold…With this video for ‘Love Of A Girl’, Victor and his team made something timeless, inspired, and ridiculously fun!” Seth Avett shares.

Since the start of their massive US tour of nearly 50 dates this spring, summer and fall, The Avett Brothers have remained tireless and gleefully unpredictable in their music, live set and beyond. They released The Avett Brothers, their first new album in five years while introducing a band of muppet-like puppet creatures called “The Avetts,” which they brought to life alongside the team at Jim Henson’s company. Their musical Swept Away will soon open at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre, with tickets on sale now and performances beginning October 29th.

On the heels of playing Forest Hills Stadium in NYC, and LA’s SoFi Stadium with Luke Combs, The Avett Brothers are on the road for dozens of more shows across the country from now through November, featuring support from Melissa Etheridge, G. Love & Special Sauce, Trampled by Turtles, Sammy Rae & The Friends, Houndmouth and Jamestown Revival.
