Blake Shelton parts ways with Warner Music Nashville

The pair amicably part ways after two decades

Blake Shelton has parted ways with his longtime label, Warner Music Nashville. The decision was amicable two decades after the country star signed his first deal with Giant Records.

“I moved to Nashville when I was 17 to sing country music and get a record deal,” Shelton says in a statement. “Along with the support from Warner, my dreams came true, and then some. It’s impossible to name everyone who has had a hand in all the success we enjoyed, but a huge and heartfelt thank you to the Giant Records, Warner Bros. Records and Warner Music Nashville staff and family.”

“Working alongside Blake these past 23 years has been an honor and a privilege,” the label adds. “Together, we’ve celebrated a record number of hit songs, sold-out tours and award wins. Blake’s talent is undeniable, but that wit of his, and the countless moments of laughter he’s given us remind us how fun this business of music can be. While our time together has come to an end, we count ourselves amongst his biggest fans and are grateful for the ride with this true gentleman and icon.”

It’s unclear where Shelton will land next. In 2022, the Grammy-nominated country star sold his master recordings catalog to Influence Media Partners, which comprises all of his commercial releases from 2001 to 2019. The two parties also created a joint venture, partnering to amplify his works and entitling Shelton to participate in a share of the profit generated.

He will headline a mini-residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in February 2025. Six performances are scheduled from February 5-15, 2025.

Shelton released his first single “Austin” in 2001 with Giant. After the label shuttered the same year, Shelton moved to Warner’s roster where he’s remained until the announcement. He’s released 12 studio albums and topped the country charts 28 times for the label. He’s sold more than 52 million singles, 13 million albums, and racked up nearly 11 billion global streams. Shelton has received numerous awards, including six ACMs, three AMAs, 10 CMAs, 11 CMTs, and six People’s Choice, among many others and became a global superstar when he joined NBC’s The Voice in 2011.
