‘Outer Banks’ star Madison Bailey launches music career with debut single

Actress signs major label deal with Republic Records

Critically acclaimed actress Madison Bailey dips her toes into the music world with her debut single “The Grey” out now via Republic Records. Just ahead of the season four release of Netflix’s powerhouse Outer Banks (part one out October 10th,) Bailey is poised and ready to introduce herself as an artist with her debut single. Co-written by Madison, the track laces a breezy beat with warm guitar. She flaunts her distinct and dynamic range over buoyant production. Meanwhile, her vocals take flight on the chorus, “I know it’s lonely in the grey. Don’t need to explain or hide all your pain. There’s nothing wrong with living in the grey.”

“‘The Grey’ is about that feeling of not fitting into certain boxes or connecting with labels placed upon you by pressures of society: the message being to embrace yourself in that in-between place. It’s the perfect introduction to what I hope most of my music and message will be. It’s very honest and straight-up,” Bailey shares.

Madison Bailey had quietly waited her whole life for her voice to be heard. Of course, audiences worldwide had already fallen in love with her, thanks to a lead role on the Netflix juggernaut Outer Banks and dozens of other roles. However, she had harbored musical ambitions for as long as she can remember.

Born in North Carolina, mom and dad adopted Madison early on, and she grew up in a loving family with six older siblings. As soon as she discovered music, she often locked herself in the bathroom and belted out karaoke favorites for hours in addition to performing “shows” in the living room and garage. Simultaneously, she joined every church choir and vocal group possible, while mom entered her into competitions and mall events. After signing to an agency for modeling, she shifted over to acting and launched her career.

As an actress, her body of work has spanned Constantine, American Horror Stories, and more. However, she reached critical mass as Kiara “Kie” Carrera in Outer Banks. The latter clinched No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 Global English TV List for two weeks and earned over 99 million hours viewed.

Expanding her influence across culture, Tommy Hilfiger notably chose her as a “Tommy Girl.” Between shooting seasons of Outer Banks, she found herself with a rare pocket of free time, and she decided to formally pursue music. Now, Madison’s moment has arrived with a series of 2024 singles and her forthcoming debut for Republic Records.
