The series premieres on October 18th on NBC
Fans are a week away from seeing the premiere of Reba McEntire’s third sitcom, Happy’s Place. Ahead of its NBC debut on October 18th at 8 pm ET/PT, fans can listen to the show’s theme song, “Happy’s Place,” now available on digital outlets.
The country queen co-wrote the three-minute uptempo track with band member Doug Sisemore and pop singer/songwriter Carole King. Her live band is credited with recording the track.
“I emailed her and told her the situation. She said that she’d love to help out. I hadn’t seen her in maybe four years, but we’re friends,” McEntire tells USA Today. “I had the beginning and a chorus but mainly the melody. Then [King] came in and wrote the lyrics and added a melody. I said, ‘Carole, I really love my melody and I love your lyrics.’ So she said, ‘Throw them together.'”
In the series, McEntire plays Bobbie who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.
The series also stars McEntire’s boyfriend Rex Linn, Reba alum Melissa Peterman, Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, and Tokala Black Elk.
Former Reba executive producers Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis are returning in the same capacity alongside Julie Abbott and McEntire. The series was written by Kevin Abbott, the showrunner for Reba from 2002-2007 and her follow-up sitcom, Malibu Country, in 2012.
Steve Howie who played Van Montgomery on Reba is set to guest star in an upcoming episode. Producers are also hoping to find the right part to invite other Reba alums into the show, including JoAnna Garcia who played Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery during its six-season run.
Happy’s Place is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
