The band has seen a surge in sales since the release
The Tragically Hip has returned to the top of the music charts with the reissue of its debut album. The Up to Here deluxe box set debuts at No. 1 on the Albums Sales chart, Digital Album Sales chart, Catalog Album Sales chart, Digital Catalog Album Sales chart, Album chart with TEA (album sales + digital track sales), and Alternative Album Sales Chart, according to Music Connect/Luminate Data for the week ending on November 14th.
The album’s original release 35 years ago peaked at No. 13 in their native homeland of Canada.
This release coincides with several major events, including the global debut of the award-winning Prime Video docuseries The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal on September 20th, which won TIFF’s People’s Choice Documentary Award and CIFF’s Audience Award for Top Overall Score, and the October 1st release of This Is Our Life, a coffee table book by The Tragically Hip, created in partnership with Genesis Publications.
The album’s lead single, “Get Back Again,” marks the band’s first No. 1 in 15 years after it spent three weeks atop of the active rock charts.
The band has seen a resurgence with consumption in the U.S., where they have been lesser known for decades, has increased by 33%, with streams up 53% and catalog sales soaring by 307%. Canadian sales surged with four albums inside the top 50 on the Album Chart with two more inside the top 200.
With th project being No. 1 on the Catalog Album chart, they’ve scored two more inside the top ten and three more inside the top 100. The Digital Album chart boasts 13 albums, while 16 singles made their way into Digital Song chart.
Follower growth across all platforms continues with Instagram seeing a +32.39% increase in followers, and TikTok has seen a +12.22% increase in followers
YouTube Views are up 67% year over year, and subscribers are up 158% from last year.
This Is Our Life by The Tragically Hipcoffee table book, in partnership with Genesis Publications, has sold over 20K copies globally in the first three weeks;
SiriusXM recently broadcast a live conversation featuring host Tara Slone and the band at Massey Hall on The Tragically Hip Radio. This event was recorded and will air across CBC platforms including Gem, starting December 6th.
