Julien’s Auctions wraps its Played, Worn & Torn II auction in Nashville
On the heels of its $1.27 million sale of George Harrison’s Beatles-era Futurama guitar, the second and final day of Julien’s Auctions’ blockbuster Played, Worn & Torn II auction event took place today (Thurs, Nov 22nd) with the $381,000 sale of Prince’s Sadowsky Telecaster style guitar. The icon’s highly-anticipated guitar, one of only six made, was used on his 1986 Parade Tour and appeared in his “America” music video.
Julien’s Auctions continues to solidify its position as a global leader in music, entertainment, and celebrity auctions, uniting collectors and enthusiasts from over 30 countries for this sale.
Other top highlights from the auction include Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain handwritten and Dave Grohl signed concert setlist: $26,000, 13 times the estimate); Freddie Mercury of Queen’s 1981 stage-worn “New York” tank top: $22,750, nearly four times its estimate; Britney Spears’ stage-worn 2001-2002 Dream Within A Dream Tour “Overprotected” outfit: $11,700, almost six times the estimate; Madonna’s “Ray of Light” MTV Video Music “Moonman” Award: $10,400; Michael Jackson’s owned and worn fedora: $5,850, almost six times the estimate; Amy Winehouse’s 1988/1989 primary school drawing and photos: $5,715, almost six times the estimate; and others.
Proceeds from items sold yesterday benefitted Gibson Gives and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Today, funds raised for charitable causes include City of Hope, Music Health Alliance, and Teenage Cancer Trust & Teen Center America.
