Joe Satriani shares ‘Big Bad Moon’ from ‘G3 Reunion Live’

The track is the latest from the joint G3 album

Joe Satriani shares “Big Bad Moon,” from the upcoming joint G3 Reunion Live with Eric Johnson and Steve Vai. The project will be released on January 31st via earMUSIC.

Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Steve Vai returned to the G3 touring concept in 2024 for a sold-out US tour. This was the original G3 line-up that saw the three virtuosos first share a stage back in 1996. Each guitarist plays a full set with their own band and then the three join together for an encore jam.

The live album showcases the boundary-pushing performances that define G3. Fans will enjoy full sets from each guitarist, including hits like Satriani’s “Sahara,” Johnson’s “Cliffs of Dover,” and Vai’s “For the Love of God,” along with a thrilling encore jam of Hendrix and Clapton covers.

In addition to the live experience, the project offers “new” live albums from each artist, plus a collaborative supergroup LP. Available in multiple formats, the deluxe edition features a different colored vinyl for each artist, a special splatter LP for the jam sessions, and a 64-page photo book, divided into separate artists and jam chapters, documenting this monumental event. It is also available in a 2 CD set with a 16-page photo booklet. The album perfectly mirrors the live tour format, with individual sets and an epic jam session featuring all three guitarists.

Since its inception in 1996, the G3 tour has consistently brought together guitar legends for unforgettable performances. Each tour edition featured guitar virtuosos performing solo sets showcasing their mastery, followed by electrifying jam sessions highlighting their collaborative brilliance. Over the years, G3 has seen iconic guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, and Paul Gilbert, among others, joining the ranks. Expanding beyond the U.S., the tour has evolved into a global celebration of guitar excellence, uniting fans and artists from different generations and genres. It is a must-see event for guitar aficionados worldwide. The G3 experience represents more than just a series of performances—it has become a platform for creative collaboration and a testament to the enduring power of guitar music.
