Max announces streaming date for the Sara Bareilles-starring ‘Waitress: The Musical’

The film will make its streaming debut on Valentine’s Day

Max has announced that Waitress: The Musical, featuring the Broadway debut of acclaimed Tony-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Sara Bareilles in the lead role, will begin streaming on Friday, February 14th. The musical is based on a motion picture of the same name which will premiere on the platform starting February 1st, starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion. The music and lyrics are composed by Bareilles, for which she earned Tony and Grammy nominations, and the musical was adapted for the stage by Jessie Nelson.

Waitress: The Musical brings the Tony-nominated Broadway phenomenon to the big screen. Featuring composer-lyricist Bareilles as Jenna Hunterson, a waitress and expert pie maker stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna fights to reclaim a long-forgotten part of herself. Through the support of her fellow waitresses and an unexpected romance, Jenna finds the courage to take a long-abandoned dream off the shelf. Waitress celebrates the power of friendship, dreams, the family we choose and the beauty of a well-baked pie.

The film also stars Charity Angél Dawson, Caitlin Houlahan, Drew Gehling, Dakin Matthews, and Eric Anderson, with Joe Tippett and Christopher Fitzgerald.

Waitress: The Musical was directed by Brett Sullivan, with the musical being directed for the stage by Diane Paulus and adapted by Jessie Nelson. The film was produced by Michael Roiff, Barry & Fran Weissler, Sara Bareilles, Jessie Nelson, and Paul Morphos in association with FilmNation Entertainment.
