Singer-songwriter Belle Frantz releases an original song, “Do Ya,” which she wrote for the hit Paramount+ television series, Landman. The song, written by Frantz, Brandon Hood and Bart Butler, was featured in episode nine of the debut season of the series, created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. The series starred Academy Award-winner Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Jon Hamm, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, and 90s country singer/songwriter Mark Collie.
“When I heard I was going to get a song in a show including actors such as Billy Bob, Demi Moore, and so many others, I was completely floored,” Frantz states. “Then hearing the song for the first time on the show almost didn’t feel real. I had my dog curled up next to me and it just came on. Definitely a pinch-me moment.”
Frantz is making her mark on country music with her traditional style and throwback to classic country music. The 21-year-old is a native of Greenwood Springs, Mississippi but has been making waves in Nashville for the past year. Last fall, Frantz released her first EP, Why I Sing This Way, which features a collection of songs by some of the artists that have influenced her most including Conway Twitty, George Jones and her ultimate role model, Reba McEntire.
Having grown up in a rural community, Frantz was a country girl and was very close with her grandparents. It is in her grandfather’s shop where she was exposed to classic country artists that soon became her music of choice., including George Jones and Patsy Cline and KT Oslin. When her grandfather passed away, 12-year-old Frantz went through a basket of his CDs and the first new one she discovered was McEntire’s Last One To Know. This album was the catalyst for her love of singing and the songwriting process, which she studied intently. At age 16, Frantz started taking guitar and voice lessons. She began to play local shows to hone her craft and after community college, worked to save money to move to Nashville, where she has been writing with the industry’s top songwriters and recording for her forthcoming debut original project.
