Trisha Yearwood returns to UMG with new music

A new album will drop this summer

Trisha Yearwood enters a new chapter of her 35 year career by returning to Universal Music Group where she was based from 1990 through 2006 under the MCA banner. The country star has partnered with Virgin Music Group for her new album The Mirror, due on July 18th, and see her more recent projects from her Gwendolyn Records brought to the label.

The Mirror marks the first time the Georgia native has co-written and co-produced an entire album. The 15-track album’s first two songs, “Bringing the Angels” and “The Wall Or the Way Over,” will be available at midnight ET. The Mirror will be available on CD, digital, standard vinyl and several limited edition variants.

“I’m honored to join forces with Virgin Music Group as I embark on this exciting new chapter. Bringing my Gwendolyn label into the MCA/Universal family truly feels like coming home. I can’t wait to share my new album, The Mirror. Creating this music has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” says Yearwood.

“We are thrilled to welcome Trisha Yearwood back to the family, coming full circle as we celebrate and amplify her iconic MCA catalog. In partnering her Gwendolyn Records label with Virgin Music Group, Trisha enters an exciting independent chapter – one where she retains creative and commercial control, supported by a world-class, global team. We are so happy for her,” says Mike Harris, President and CEO of Music Corporation of America (MCA).

The announcement also coincides with Yearwood’s first headlining tour in six years. The spring run launched yesterday (Wed, Apr 30th) in Austin, Texas with stops through May 17th in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Yearwood will also perform two shows with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra on December 2nd and 3rd at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Yearwood recently received three new RIAA certifications, including double platinum for “She’s in Love With the Boy,” and gold for “Walkaway Joe” and “XXX’s and OOO’s (An American Girl),” all released between 1990-1994 on MCA.
