Amazon Music to livestream Erykah Badu concert

The special hometown livestream will find the Queen of Neo-Soul performing classics and fan favorites

Amazon Music will livestream a concert by multi-Grammy-winning musical icon Erykah Badu on June 19th. The concert will feature the Queen of Neo-Soul performing with her full band from The Bomb Factory in Dallas. Newly independent with an album set to be released on her Control Freaq Records label later this summer, Badu will take her fans into a new era with a set of iconic classics and fan favorites.

Fans around the world can watch the broadcast starting at 9 pm CT on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. Fans in Dallas will be able to get free tickets to the show. Rising Dallas rapper Tye Harris will open the show, and hip-hop commentators Wayno, Nyla Symone and Mouse Jones will host the livestream from Amazon Music.

Badu’s music is a unique blend of soul, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and funk, often incorporating introspective and socially conscious lyrics. Her vocal style has frequently been compared to jazz legend Billie Holiday. She emerged in the late 1990s as a leading figure in the neo-soul movement, a genre that infused traditional soul with modern hip-hop influences. While she was instrumental in defining neo-soul, her sound has evolved over the years, embracing more experimental and psychedelic elements. She is known for her storytelling through layered lyrics and a distinctive “floozy, full twang” in her voice.
