Exclusive: Pat Green turns tragedy into triumph with Texas flood benefit live stream

Green lost several family members in the flooding that impacted Central Texas

Texas country icon Pat Green is turning the tragedy into triumph with a live-stream to benefit those affected by the July 4th floods in Texas. As confirmed last week, the flood of the Guadalupe River in Central Texas claimed the lives of Green’s younger brother John, John’s wife Julia, and their two young sons. They were just four of the 129 people known to be lost so far, with at least 170 more missing.

Hosting Pat Green and Friends: Texas Flood Relief Livestream, the singer-songwriter shares a livestream special, non-ticketed benefit from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Working in partnership with the Texas Rangers and REV Entertainment, Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi, Dierks Bentley, Corey Kent, Casey Donahew, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Josh Abbott, Ryan Bingham, Eli Young Band, Flatland Cavalry, Joe Nichols, Kaitlin Butts, Ty Myers, Kevin Fowler, Aaron Watson, Jon Wolfe and Bob Schneider were among those who took part in the show.

Green spoke to us ahead of the stream and said the inspiration for the show came from a friend.

“A friend of mine said, ‘Think forward. He said a couple of days ago, ‘Pat, you need to be thinking forward.’ So I’m trying to think forward, trying to make things… at the very least a little better, if not seamless, to transition.”

All proceeds from the concert and livestream will be distributed to Kerr County Relief, TEXSAR, and the Do It For Durrett Foundation via The Pat Green Foundation, directly benefiting the families affected by this heart-wrenching disaster.

Green knows the impact the community will have in helping the healing process begin. He says the stream will re-air on YouTube and fans can donate via givebutter.com.
