Drake White’s sunny with ‘Nuthin’ But a Smile’

The sizzling new single is available now

Country-soul singer-songwriter Drake White turns up the heat this summer with a sunny and sizzling new single entitled “Nuthin’ But a Smile” out now. It marks his first original release of 2025 and hints at more to come shortly. He also personally produced the song, collaborating with co-writers Shane Minor and Monte Criswell.

The track’s wailing guitar signals the beginning of the perfect August afternoon on the river with friends and frosty beverages. Organ echoes over a head-nodding beat as White paints a picture of “A river rat pipe dream party scene where the lies and the horseshoes fly.” The volume pumps up during the fun and flirty chorus, “Don’t get me wrong. I’m digging on your cut-off and flip-flop style, but I must confess, girl, you look your best wearing nuthin’ but a smile.” A butter-smooth guitar lead and bluesy howl fittingly cap off the tune.

“‘Nuthin’ But a Smile’ has been one of my favorite songs since the day we wrote it. I grew up on the riverbank in Hokes Bluff, Alabama, and I’ve always been a fan of the ‘less is more’ mentality—especially when it comes to clothing during the dog days of summer. The Muscle Shoals swampy sonics welcome you to Soul Country. Beware, this one’s got the fire!” White shares about the song.

Last month, he dropped the three-track Scattered, Smothered, Covers EP. He notably put his spin on “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, and “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash.

Last year, he unveiled his third full-length studio album, Low Country High Road. The record boasts the wisdom-laden “Life, Love and War,” the mischievous “10 Lbs of S#!T,” and blues-and-gospel-tinged “Faith.”

White will be canvassing North America on tour through the end of 2025. He will headline his Keep It Movin’ Tour in the fall, and he’s set to rejoin Riley Green for the second leg of the Damn Country Music Tour. Plus, he’ll appear at various festivals in addition to playing shows with friends such as Chase Rice, Travis Tritt, and Colt Ford.
