Global superstars added to 2025 MTV VMAs

The show airs live on September 7th on CBS

Conan Gray, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, Post Malone and Tate McRae join the ever-growing lineup of global superstars performing at the 2025 MTV VMAs hosted by LL Cool J, airing live coast-to-coast from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT on the CBS Television Network, simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Gray makes his main stage debut with hit single “Vodka Cranberry” from his fourth studio album, Wishbone, released earlier this month. The 2020 MTV Push artist performed from the VMAs Extended Play stage in 2022.

Multi-platinum, Grammy and five-time VMA winner Doja Cat returns to the iconic stage for the first-ever televised performance of her new single “Jealous Type.” The 2021 VMAs host last appeared in 2023, performing a show-stopping medley of hits “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red” and “Demons.”

Multi-genre phenomenon Jelly Roll, who appeared during the 2024 VMAs show open with Eminem, will perform and compete for his first-ever Moon Person, nominated in four categories, including Best Alternative, Best Country and Best Hip-Hop.

The Grammy-nominated superstar and six-time winner Malone will return for his first performance since 2018 and celebrate 20 career nods, this year’s for Best Collaboration with Blake Shelton for “Pour Me A Drink.”

The multi-platinum pop sensation McRae will make her first appearance on the VMAs main stage and celebrate four first-time nominations, including Song of the Year for “Sports Car” and Best Pop Artist.

Lady Gaga leads this year’s nominees with 12, looking to add to her 18 VMAs wins with nominations in Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Album and more. This marks the third time Gaga has led nominations, previously in 2010 with 13 nods) and 2020, where she tied with nine nods. Other top contenders include Bruno Mars with 11, Kendrick Lamar with ten, Rosé and Sabrina Carpenter with eight each, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd with seven each, Billie Eilish with six, Charli XCX with five, and Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae with four apiece.

Mariah Carey will be presented with the Video Vanguard Award.

Nominations for this year’s “VMAs” Social Categories, Best Group and Song of the Summer, will be revealed on Friday, August 29th.
